Designer I Admire: Eileen Tjan

During the spring of 2025, I designed my own version of Dante’s Inferno by creating my own layout and illustrations, as well as printing and hand-binding two physical copies of the book.

My approach to this project combines the traditional aesthetics associated with Dante’s Inferno and my own tactile process, marrying classical and contemporary design choices.

Every illustration was drawn in ink, scanned, and digitally enhanced. Each circle of Hell was illustrated and inserted after its respective canto.

Below are illustrations representing Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Heresy, Violence, Fraud, and Treachery.
